About Us
The science behind sustainability: made clear, concise and approachable.
A universally accessible message with a visual narrative.

We are expert on addressing sustainability issues in emotional, engaging ways. We visualize complex topics and data using information graphics and interaction design to help organizations communicate their social and environmental messages.
Taking a collaborative approach to each project, we work with defined timelines and provide frequent status updates.

The boundaries between art, design, commerce and technology blur and intersect in my work.

Our network includes a variety of collaborators
August 2019: We’re hiring an experienced information designer.
And we’re always looking for superstar collaborators to join our extended team. Information designers, data visualizers, creative programmers, talented animators, researchers, and copywriters are all part of our network of close collaborators.
We occasionally offer internships to students and professionals looking to expand their skill sets and make valuable contributions to our projects. Together, we help people, especially non-experts, understand sustainability. We work for clients in the US and Europe.

Through visual storytelling…Birt builds an accessible education for the skyrocketing population of consumers who want to indulge without feeling guilty.

“By using well-designed, brand-aligned graphics, that education arrives in the consumers hand in a simple, digestible form.”
Arlene Birt’s Background Stories represents an alternative, demonstrating how savvy companies can begin to change that equation by providing consumers with the information necessary to make enlightened choices.
“…We could all probably use a little more knowledge as to where the things around us come from and where they will go. With her Background Stories, Birt is trying to show us the way.”
